Introduction & History
Maritime Productions is currently the world’s only completely nautical, entirely professional entertainment company. Our mission is to create exciting, intelligent original professional theatre, escapism and outdoor adventure on the high seas in the most magical vacation spots we can find accross the globe. We accomplish this by combining intriguing, original theatre and entertainment with the unpredictable intensity and backdrop only mother nature can supply … the vision, sound and scent of sky, sea, and landscape.
Maritime Productions was founded in 1993 by Rene Risher-Kelly ( Rene Risher ) , a 30 year veteran in the entertainment/theatre and media business. Our first production was originated and performed in Provincetown, Massachusetts at Cape Cod’s #1 attraction … The Pilgrim Monument/Provincetown Museum. We performed every evening in the summer and fall of 1994 to great critical acclaim and audience response. We offered a 360° view of the town, dunes and sea at sunset while we performed at the base of the Pilgrim Monument, one of America’s most important landmarks. Although this show, titled "Legends, Haunts & Folklore", was land based, it contained a considerable amount of maritime stories and lore. Audiences were so intrigued by this part of the show that afterwards we decided to venture completely into a nautical direction. We also decided that the only way to enhance an already magical setting would be to bring the audience directly onto the ocean, so their bodies as well as their minds and spirits could benefit from a more complete experience.
This is where we are today. We have performed different versions of our show "Seafaring Legends, Haunts & Folklore" on magnificent power and sailing vessels along the Eastern Seaboard as a full time attraction. We also just completed a run of our latest play and attraction..." Supernatural Legends, Haunts, & Folklore of The Rio Grande Valley and the& Seas" in an historic, famous hotel in deep south Texas. We are currently working on new shows that will be performed live starting in 2012!
